An exciting new post has been created by Archant, the UK’s largest independent regional community media company, as part of its expansion plans into the city of Cambridge and the Great Cambridge sub-region.
Reporting to the editorial director of Archant Herts and Cambs, the successful applicant will spearhead the company’s business coverage of the area, which is the UK’s scientific research and development capital of almost 1,400 hi-tech businesses, a reputation for innovation and some of the biggest and best companies around, including Microsoft, ARM and Autonomy. You will also be dealing with such diverse organisations as Stansted Airport, Marshalls Motor Group and Cambridge University.
Based in our Cambridge office, you will also provide print and online coverage across our East Anglian portfolio of brands, including the Eastern Daily Press and East Anglian Daily Times.
The ideal candidate will have at least two years’ experience on a recognised regional newspaper and must be able to demonstrate a keen interest, and knowledge of, business affairs. The ability to network and build contacts is essential, as is the need to understand and embrace the role of multi-media in journalism. Commercial awareness and the ability to work quickly, accurately and confidently are the other main requirements.
